About OSCN

The Out of School Care Network (OSCN) was established in Auckland in 1990 by out of school service providers and child care advocates who were concerned about a lack of minimum standards, recognised training or adequate funding for after school and school holiday programmes. OSCN was formally incorporated in 1993 and at this time began employing staff. (Read more about how OSCN started and our first newsletter.) OSCN currently has 3 part-time staff and is managed by a voluntary executive committee, elected annually from our membership.

OSCN has over 200 member organisations (sole traders, companies, community organisations, schools and local authorities) that operate before/after school and holiday programmes. These are located in schools, community and recreation centres, churches, early childhood centres and sports facilities. Originally OSCN's work was based mainly in the Auckland region but changes in the sector mean that our services are now offered over a wider area.

OSCN provides training, support and information to programmes but we are not a programme provider. We do not assess, endorse, license or fund programmes.
